Spring hydrant flushing starts Monday, May 2, and you can follow along on our interactive map to see when they are in your neighborhood.
When hydrants are flushed, mineral deposits can be disturbed, causing temporary water discoloration. This can be cleared up by turning on all of your cold water faucets at the same time and letting them run for a few minutes. Discolored water is perfectly safe for consumption and bathing. You should avoid doing laundry during this time. If you have a load that is in the wash, do not put it in the dryer. Rewash the items as soon as you have flushed your faucets.
