In 2016-17, a task force appointed by the City Council investigated future needs for proper facilities to operate Rosemount City government.
The Metropolitan Council projects Rosemount's 2040 population to be 38,000 people. Considering that growth, current space for City offices will not be sufficient to meet customer service needs. The Task Force looked at all current buildings regarding purpose and function to make a recommendation to the City Council about what is needed to meet future demands. The Task Force considered opportunities to re-purpose buildings along with locations and timing for future buildings.
