A construction permit is required for all new systems on lots developed outside the area served by the city sewer system, and also for building expansions, additions, etc. Septic systems must be designed and installed by a business licensed by MPCA.
All septic systems require a maintenance permit which is issued by the Building Department. Owners of septic systems must have their treatment tanks inspected and remove solids if needed every three years. This inspection/ pumping service must be completed by a licensed septic system maintenance business.
Point of Sale Inspections. A Compliance Inspection is required for the transfer of property ownership which is required by Dakota County.
